De Loach Vineyards
The Russian River Original – Russian River Valley
DeLoach Vineyards has been a pioneering producer of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley since 1975. The winery’s passion centers on producing exceptional wines that spotlight the singular personality of the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County. Our idyllic twenty-acres of estate vineyards and gardens are certified organic and Biodynamic® since we consider ourselves stewards of the land. In the cellar, we employ traditional French Burgundian winemaking techniques such as open-top wood fermentors, native yeast fermentations, and hand punch-downs to ensure terroir-driven wines of distinction.
We feel a profound responsibility to protect the incomparable sites essential to great wines. To this end, in 2009, we embraced Biodynamic farming techniques. This approach goes beyond the elimination of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides to include the use of various special preparations. We treat the vineyard as a self-contained ecosystem to foster a natural balance among the earth, the vines, the people and animals that contribute to its vitality. It entails farming in harmony with the lunar calendar, applying Biodynamic-specific preparation to the vines, and maintaining biodiversity, which we do with chickens, sheep, a thriving bee-hive and a diverse, bountiful vegetable garden. Ultimately, Biodynamic farming is about producing wines true to their source, in harmony with and expressive of their unique site.
